Last night we performed our regular gig, meaning that in every town our Rotary group give a presentation about ourselves and where we are from to the local Rotarian tribe. We have a PowerPoint (tm) presentation that we rapidly cut down by 3/4 or so because it was way too long and many Thai people's English isn't good enough to get all the details--of course, they're English, generally, is WAY better than our Thai...
The one bonus last night was the tequila. Apparently, a previous Rotary group visiting from somewhere in Mexico left a bottle of tequila as a gift. However, none of Phrae's Rotarians knows the proper way to drink it, go figure. Enter...me!
I was asked to go up on stage and demonstrate. So, with a microphone in one hand and a table of the goodies in front of me, I proceeded to pour a shot of tequila into a glass, apply some salt to my hand between thumb and index finger, and get my lime ready. Then I did the deed, i.e. drank me some tequila. I finished my "presentation" with the following: "then repeat as needed." Applause and laughter all around, especially from my teammates.
